MGM Guest Service Representatives Vote to Join UAW

NLRB Certifies Election and Right to Proceed and Bargain

LAS VEGAS - The NLRB certified Friday that 57 MGM Guest Service Representatives who work in the slot department of the casino have successfully voted to join the UAW.

MGM employees join recent UAW successful elections for casino dealers at Caesar's, The Wynn, Harrah's, Paris and Bally's. “Anytime workers overcome obstacles, so they can sit at the bargaining table, is a victory for all Las Vegas workers. It lifts all boats. And we are excited that MGM Guest Service Representatives have joined the UAW family."

Guest Service Representatives at MGM voted 30-25 on January 24 of this year and after objections from MGM, the NLRB reviewed and certified the election. The January vote was the second vote after previous management objections to the election.

"We are pleased to welcome MGM into the UAW's gaming family.  MGM is a premier destination in Las Vegas and MGM Guest Service workers are an important part of the company’s success in the Las Vegas market,” said Vance Pearson, Director of UAW Region 5.

For LeeAnn Ballenger having a union will improve communication between guest services and management which is a win-win for MGM customers. “It’s going to be great to be able to talk to the company with a real voice in our workplace," said Ballenger. "Things like having consistent policies and a voice in how they are implemented is important to all of us and in the end will improve the visits of our guests."
